REMIT Researcher Participates in International Tourism Cooperation Meeting in Galicia
REMIT integrated researcher Medeia Veríssimo participated in the 2nd International Tourism Cooperation Workshop, organized by ASICOTUR – the International Association for Tourism Cooperation, on 27 and 28 May at the Caldaria Hotel in Lobios, Ourense, Galicia.
As an affiliated member of UN Tourism, ASICOTUR brought together representatives from public institutions, associations, universities, and tourism organizations from Europe, Latin America, and Africa. The event provided a platform for discussion among tourism experts on the role of destination visual identity as a tool for international cooperation and territorial development.
Over the two-day programme, participants explored topics such as the joint promotion of tourism destinations, cooperation among Portuguese-speaking countries, European regional development projects, and cross-border cooperation strategies between Galicia and Northern Portugal. The workshop also featured sessions dedicated to the enhancement of rural territories, the development of destination visual identity, and the exchange of best practices for sustainable tourism development.
The participation took place at the invitation of ASICOTUR, within the framework of the cooperation agreement established between the association and Universidade Portucalense. This agreement promotes the development of joint initiatives in the fields of research, training, and international cooperation in tourism.
