Helena Albuquerque discusses the impact of climate change on grape harvesting and wine tourism

On 11 September, Helena Albuquerque, integrated researcher at REMIT | Universidade Portucalense, took part in the “Duas de Prosa” podcast, broadcast by RTP Antena 1, where she discussed the impact of climate change on the wine sector.

During the interview, she highlighted the trend towards earlier grape harvesting in several regions, linked to rising temperatures and earlier grape ripening. She also pointed to the growing unpredictability of climate conditions and the need for businesses and wine-producing regions to adapt.

The researcher also emphasised the role of wine tourism as an opportunity for economic diversification and the enhancement of these territories, as well as the importance of sustainable growth and specialised training for professionals in the sector.
