TEES - "Enogastronomic Tourism - Strategies for sustainability "
This project considers the Portuguese wine-growing territory as its main object of study and its main objective is to analyze the impacts of the enogastronomic phenomenon, identifying sustainability strategies.
The sustainability of this type of tourism is based on the interaction of local communities with nature, wine regions were born and grew full of historical identity and cultural authenticity. These landscapes, cultures, grape varieties and production techniques are, in themselves, a type of unique heritage in the world that transforms them into strong international attractions for enogastronomy. For this reason, the national wine sector and related sectors are considered strategic within the scope of Portuguese sectoral policies, integrating the 2027 Tourism Strategy.
Given the appreciation of wine and its landscapes, stakeholders from wine-growing territories and regions and residents see employment opportunities in interior rural and low-demographic areas reinforced. However, there are serious risks arising from climate impacts. Therefore, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches in structuring projects that address these themes and challenges of environmental, cultural and historical sustainability are crucial. The project is made up of an interdisciplinary team of DTPC researchers, promoting the articulation of a set of complementary knowledge, considered essential for its development.
