ENOTURS - Wine Tourism and Territorial Development: Strategies for Sustainable Destination Management
Summary
Wine tourism has increasingly established itself as an important form of tourism, contributing to the diversification of tourism offerings and to the economic dynamism of territories associated with wine production. The growing demand for wine-related experiences has created new opportunities for destinations, but also challenges related to their capacity for organisation, management, qualification, and competitive positioning.
In this context, the project ENOTURS – Wine Tourism and Territorial Development: Strategies for Sustainable Destination Management internal project aims to examine the relationship between wine tourism and territorial development, seeking to understand how this activity can contribute to the valorisation and dynamisation of destinations. The research focuses on analysing development dynamics associated with wine tourism and identifying management strategies capable of strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of destinations, while taking into account transformations in the tourism sector and evolving market demands.
More specifically, the project ENOTURS is structured around two research lines:
Wine Tourism, Territory and Sustainable Development – analysis of the contribution of wine tourism to economic and territorial development, identifying opportunities, challenges, and strategies that can enhance the positive effects of tourism activity on destinations.
Management and Competitiveness of Wine Tourism Destinations – identification and analysis of planning, management, and destination development strategies, considering factors such as competitiveness, innovation, digitalisation, diversification of the tourism offering, and the capacity to adapt to market transformations.
The project therefore seeks to contribute to the production of knowledge on the role of wine tourism as an instrument of territorial development, identifying management strategies that can strengthen the attractiveness, competitiveness, and sustainability of destinations while simultaneously contributing to their valorisation and to the dynamisation of economic activities associated with the sector.
