Safety Management and Risk in Tourism and Hospitality (SMARTH)
Summary
The perception of safety is a very important factor to take into account during tourist visits, whether to historical monuments, whether they are built architectural heritage, religious, civil, military, vernacular or archaeological, or to nature sites. This perception of safety helps to guarantee, on the one hand, the physical integrity of visitors and, on the other, the preservation of different types of heritage.
In this context, this project aims to study the perception of risk associated with visiting these historical and natural sites, in order to identify weaknesses and opportunities and enable the implementation of coherent and homogeneous strategies and actions to limit the risk of accidents, thereby increasing the safety of visitors on the one hand and heritage on the other.
More specifically, the Safety Management and Risk in Tourism and Hospitality (SMARTH) project is divided into two lines of research, one focussing on cultural heritage and the other on natural heritage:
- Cultural Heritage Assessment of Risk Perception and Identification of Safety Measures.
- Natural Heritage Assessment of Risk Perception and Identification of Safety Measures.
