Business Tourism Ecosystems and Destination Development (BTEDD)
Summary
The Business Tourism Ecosystems and Destination Development (BTEDD) project investigates the role of business tourism as an engine for competitiveness, innovation, and development of tourist destinations. Based on an ecosystem perspective, the project analyses the interactions between the different stakeholders involved in attracting, organising, and managing business events, including public entities, companies, convention bureaux, destination management organizations, higher education institutions, and research centres.
BTEDD seeks to understand how business tourism ecosystems contribute to economic value creation, the internationalisation of territories, knowledge transfer, innovation, and the enhancement of destination attractiveness. Simultaneously, it aims to identify governance models, development strategies, and technological solutions that support more effective and competitive management of this tourism segment.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, the project aims to produce relevant scientific knowledge for researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals, contributing to the sustainable and competitive development of destinations in the global context of business tourism.
